whg charity walk smashes fundraising target

Colleagues from across whg raised £5,000 for a local homelessness charity, smashing their £500 target.

More than 40 colleagues braved freezing conditions last month and took part in Paul’s Walk- an 11-mile trek to raise money for St Basils.

The charity supports young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the West Midlands.

Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils, Barrie Hodge, said: “We are so grateful to all the team at whg for supporting us on this charity walk. Paul was a much loved and cherished member of the team, and the fact that they continue to honour his memory by supporting causes close to his heart is overwhelming.

“The funds will be used to invest in young people so they can go on from us and serve the communities they will live in. On behalf of all of those we support, thank you.”

Paul’s walk has become an annual tradition in memory of former whg colleague, Paul Dockerill, who passed away in 2022.

whg’s Business Change Project Manager, Donna Goodall, who played a large role in organising the walk, said: “A massive well done to everyone who took part in the fundraising efforts this year.

“Paul cared deeply about giving back to the community. We hope the money raised in his name will make a real, positive difference to young people facing homelessness in the region.”
